Governor Greg Abbott is officially running for a second term.
Today he made his re-election campaign official after days of speculation. During his press conference, Governor Abbott hailed the passage of bills from his first term and promised to continue the work into his second term.
Governor Abbott was first elected to the office in November of 2014, topping Democratic State Senator Wendy Davis, 59 percent to 39 percent.
Thus far, Abbott has not drawn a Democratic challenger. Republican secessionist Larry SECEDE Kilgore is running against Abbott for the Republican Party's nomination for governor.
