Former San Antonio Mayor Sought Unemployment Benefits After Losing Re-Election Bid

Former San Antonio mayor Ivy R. Taylor sought unemployment benefits from the City of San Antonio after losing her re-election bid earlier this year, according to the San Antonio Express News.

A report from the Express News showed that sources from within the City said that Taylor filed a claim for unemployment from the City of San Antonio through the Texas Workforce Commission. Officials from the City of San Antonio contacted Taylor and advised her to withdraw the claim, however the Texas Workforce Commission would not allow the withdrawal.

Taylor lost her re-election bid earlier this year in a runoff in a hotly contested race for San Antonio mayor. Taylor made a runoff with former city councilman Ron Nirenberg, who later defeated Taylor in the June runoff.
