City Closing Brush Sites

The City of Amarillo is planning to close all brush sites in the city limits effective Friday, September 22nd.

All brush sites in Amarillo will be closed and consolidated to a new compost facility at 16250 Bezner Road. The compost facility will be a part of the City's current landfill.

Brush and tree trimmings will no longer be accepted at any brush site. All items are to be directed to the City landfill.

City officials says that the changes are a result of community input and amendments to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality's rules for brush sites, dumping and landfills.

The new compost facility is planned to be open Monday through Friday, 8am to 7pm, and Saturday from 8am to 5pm during the summer months (April through October) and Monday through Saturday, 8am to 5pm during the winter months (November through March).

Over the next six to nine months, City staff is planning to grind all remaining items at brush sites for compost.
