Governor Greg Abbott announced on Wednesday a new grant that has been awarded to assist Hurricane Harvey victims.
Governor Abbott announced that the United States Department of Labor approved a $30 million grant to the Texas Workforce Commission to assist displaced workers who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The grant will allow the Texas Workforce Commission to "provide funding to create temporary jobs for eligible individuals to assist with cleanup, recovery and humanitarian efforts in areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey," according to the Governor's office.
The funds are distributed through a partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
