APD Reminds Drivers: Exiting Off Side of Highway is Illegal

The Amarillo Police Department is reminding drivers that exiting the highway from an unapproved traffic exit is illegal.

According to APD, exits from the highway by vehicle that are not exiting off of a ramp are on the rise. Drivers are not allowed to drive over grass medians to get to service roads.

APD says that exiting off of a grass median is illegal and make grass unattractive. Also, during wet seasons, drivers could get stuck in the mud in the median.
