One suspect has been arrested following a shooting at a Southlawn home over the weekend.
Authorities say that Amarillo Police were dispatched to a shots fired call in the 4400 block of South Travis on Monday, January 1st. When officers arrived that morning, they found that at least one bullet had hit a home and penetrated its bedroom wall. Officers estimated the trajectory of the bullet and developed information that the shot appeared to originate in the back yard of a home at 4412 S. Parker, where neighbors had a fire in a barrel.
Officers found bullet holes in the barrel that lined up with the shot that hit the home. APD says officers made contact with Guadalupe Cain Deleon, 30, who was now inside the home.
Officers determined Deleon had fired the shots, possibly in an attempt to ventilate the burning barrel. He was then taken into custody. Officers located a .45 and .40 caliber handgun in a grill in the back yard of the home.
Deleon was booked into the Randall County Jail for deadly conduct by discharge of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, and a traffic warrant.
