Initial reports claim around 55,000 people attended a campaign concert this weekend for Democrat Beto O’Rourke’s U.S. Senate campaign.
The concert in question was held in Austin and featured a headlining performance by country music icon Willie Nelson. The El Paso Times reports 55,000 people attended the show as Nelson and others campaigned for O’Rourke. Nelson also introduced a new song during the show - “Vote ‘Em Out” - which was directed as Senator Ted Cruz, the Republican incumbent.
Donned in a Beto for Senate t-shirt, Willie Nelson and O’Rourke closed out the night by singing “On the Road Again” in a duet.
O’Rourke’s campaign offered admission to the concert for free.
The El Paso Democrat is facing Cruz and Libertarian Neal Dikeman in November.
