Potter, Randall Report Massive First Day Voter Turnout

The votes were rolling in during the first day of early voting in Potter and Randall Counties.

According to numbers posted by both counties, Potter County and Randall County have combined for a total 5,582 in-person votes cast on Monday. This is in addition to 3,909 mail-in ballots received by both counties. Officials say less than 1,000 mail-in ballots have gone unreturned so far in Potter County, while a little more than 1,200 mail-in votes remain at-large in Randall County.

Randall County voters turned out heavily at the new Randall County Annex and at Region 16, casting over 1,200 votes at each location. In Potter County, most voters cast ballots at the Santa Fe Building downtown, while The Craig and Casey Carpet One also reported steady turnout.

Numbers from both counties show increased interest in the November contests than at the same time last year. In 2017, during the Texas Constitutional Amendments elections and the Amarillo Independent School District bond election, 339 votes were cast on the first day of early voting.

Early voting will continue through November 2nd. Election day is November 6th.
