Amarillo Pro Baseball to Host Press Conference

As Amarillo residents await the eventual name of the professional baseball team, a press conference has been planned.

On Thursday, Amarillo Pro Baseball will host a public press conference at the Embassy Suites hotel downtown. The press conference will feature representatives from the San Diego Padres organization, Amarillo Professional Baseball, and the City of Amarillo will be in attendance.

“We are ecstatic about the opportunity to introduce our relationship with the San Diego Padres to the members of the local media and the surrounding community,” said Amarillo Professional Baseball President and General Manager Tony Ensor. “It’s an honor to bring Major League-affiliated baseball and the Padres back to our great community for the first time in 37 years and would love for all to come help celebrate and be a part of history.”

It is unclear whether the name of the team will be announced at the event.

The press conference will begin at 2PM on Thursday.
