Amarillo ISD to Begin Bond Project Construction

Construction is set to begin on the first batch of Amarillo Independent School District projects funded by the 2017 school bonds.

According to AISD, construction is beginning this month on renovations at Fannin and Lamar schools in Amarillo. These are the first batch of projects to be launched since voters approved a $100 million bond in November 2017 to address what administrators saw as needs at each campus.

For Fannin Middle School, full renovation is underway, with additional classrooms, bulletproof glass, a new library and more being added to the campus. At Lamar, glass is also being replaced, in addition to drainage improvements.

Officials say work at Palo Duro High School, Travis and Horace Mann Middle Schools and at the Allen 6th Grade Campus are set to begin soon.

AISD says projects are expected to completed by 2021.
