Rudd to Spend Week on Streets

Kit Rudd is going back out on the streets.

Rudd, an Amarillo homeless activist and former vice president of Yellow City Community Outreach, is returning to the streets next week for the first time since early 2017. Rudd has previously spent a week on the streets in 2016 and 2017, both times filming his experiences and posting them on Facebook.

Rudd’s week on the streets will be the first the “lifetime outlaw” has completed since leaving YCCO earlier this year, and says his week will not take any resources from homeless individuals in the community. The activist says he hopes the week will bring awareness to health issues and other factors facing middle-aged homeless individuals in Amarillo.

“I want to be putting an emphasis on people my age that are on the street,” Rudd said. “They’re not old enough for social security or Medicare, but they’re still out there.”

Rudd says his week will once again be captured and put on Facebook, and he hopes that his experiences will inspire others to get involved in helping the homeless in Amarillo.

“I don’t know what the answer is but I want to bring awareness to existing problems,” Rudd said.
