City Councilman Eddy Sauer wants your support for another two years.
Sauer, an Amarillo dentist, announced via Facebook on Tuesday that he is planning to seek another term to the Amarillo City Council. Sauer said in his announcement that he feels he has made accomplishments during his two year term, but feels there is still work left to be done.
First elected in 2017, Sauer benefited heavily from support by Amarillo Matters in his quest for a seat on the City Council. Sauer defeated Tom Warren to earn his first term, and replaced Randy Burkett on the City Council. Prior to his election, Sauer sought appointment to Dr. Brian Eades’ seat on the City Council in 2016, but was not selected as a finalist. That seat eventually went to Lisa Blake.
Thus far, Sauer has not yet drawn a challenger. Sauer’s announcement leaves two individuals on the City Council, Elaine Hays and Freda Powell, without official announcements on their intentions to seek re-election or retire.
The election will be held in May 2019.
