Animal Shelter Euthanasia Rate Sees Small Dip in November

The statistics from Animal Management & Welfare’s November operations are out, and it appears that a small drop in the shelter’s euthanasia rate has been reported.

In the statistics, the shelter reports a euthanasia rate of 36.05 percent for the month of November, with a live release rate of 72.10 percent. This was a drop from the previous month’s euthanasia total of 43.18 percent. The shelter also reported a large drop in the total number of animals that came through the shelter in November from October, dropping by a little over 300 animals.

However, while November 2018 was a drop from the previous month’s euthanasia rate, it was still higher than the number posted in November 2017, when the rate was 33.08 percent, according to available data.

Numbers for December 2018 are not yet available.
