Amarillo City Council to Make Expo Bid

Members of the Amarillo City Council will vote next week to make a bid on hosting a convention in Amarillo in 2023.

According to an agenda posted to Amarillo.gov, the Amarillo City Council will consider making a bid on hosting the 2023 Texas Recreation and Park Society Institute and Expo. The City Council is required to pass a resolution pledging resources for the event in order for the Amarillo Convention and Visitors Council to bid on hosting the event. The City Council voted earlier this year to pass a similar resolution to host the 2021 conference, although Amarillo was not ultimately chosen as the recipient city.

Also, during the meeting, City Councilmembers will vote to appoint the chairperson for the Center City Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #1 Board.

The Amarillo City Council will meet on Tuesday, December 11th at 1PM in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (601 S. Buchanan). The meeting will directly follow a public comment session slated to begin at noon.
