Student Detained in Threat at Travis Middle School

A student was detained on Tuesday, after being involved in a threat aimed at Travis Middle School.

Amarillo Police officials report that officers were dispatched at 12:55pm to Travis Middle School in Amarillo on the threat of a possible shooting at the school. Officers were alerted to the threat, that is believed to have originated on the picture and video sharing cell phone application Snapchat.

Officers located the students within minutes of the threat being posted and detained him. The student was determined to not have any plans or means of carrying out the threat. The student was placed in the Youth Center of the High Plains.
