Man in Custody Following Attempted Assault at Mann Middle School

A man is now in custody following a reported attempted aggravated assault near Horace Mann Middle School.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 600 north block of Buchanan Street on Thursday night on the report of a shots fired call. Callers told officers that a 38-year-old male suspect had fire multiple shots at a 37-year-old female who was attending a football practice at the middle school. The female ran through the Mann Middle School parking lot to get away from the suspect and was uninjured. Driving a white Toyota Tundra, the suspect then fled the scene.

A parked vehicle was struck by bullets but no injuries were reported. This incident is being investigated as a domestic violence incident. The suspect in this case has been taken into custody and has not yet been identified to the public.
