One in Custody After Threat Directed at Fannin Middle School

One person is in custody after a threat was directed at Fannin Middle School on Thursday.

Amarillo Police officials report that AISD personnel were made aware of a threat directed at the middle school on Thursday. The threat, spread through social media, showed a photograph of a male with a gun.

Officials say the student responsible for the threat was detained at school. The photograph was found to have originated from the internet and did not contain an image of the person who sent it. The juvenile used that picture to make a threat on it.

The student was detained and placed in the Youth Center of the High Plains.

AISD officials and Amarillo Police are continuing to investigate for any other rumors that may arise directed at any Amarillo schools.
