Amarillo ISD Seniors Encouraged to Consider Career in Teaching

Amarillo Independent School District seniors are being encouraged to consider a career in teaching as Amarillo ISD conducts its first CORE program.

The CORE program (Cultivating Our Rising Educators) is encouraging AISD seniors to considering choosing a career in education. Of the students who apply to take part in the program, twenty will chosen.

For students who are chosen to take part in the program, a mentor will be provided to help guide the student to a career in education. Students will also receive teacher training, assistance for studying for certification tests and the potential for claiming an education job at one of 55 Amarillo ISD schools.

To apply, students are asked to apply and be accepted to WTAMU, secure a letter of recommendation from an AISD educator or administrator, complete an application on TalentEd and submit the application before February 28th.

Students will also participate in an interview in March and those selected will be announced in April.
