City Seeking Summer Lunch Sites

The City of Amarillo Community Development department administers the Summer Lunch Program – funded by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) – which provides meals to children at locations around the City of Amarillo during the months when school is not in session. On average, 69% of children in Amarillo are eligible for free or reduced lunches during the school year. However, during the summer months, many of these same children do not have access to a healthy meal during the day.

Non-profits, churches, community centers, and other local businesses are invited to host a site where children may come during the summer to receive a healthy meal provided by Amarillo Independent School District (AISD). To qualify as a summer lunch site your organization must have the capacity to provide a publicly accessible facility for lunches to be delivered and served to children 18 and under.

If your organization or business is interested in participating in the 2018 Summer Lunch program please contact Program Coordinator Summer McCampbell at (806) 378-6276 or summer.mccampbell@amarillo.gov no later than March 30, 2018.
