Hays to Talk Sales Tax Downtown

Councilmember Elaine Hays will be discussing sales tax collection in Amarillo at an upcoming event that will be held at the Embassy Suites downtown.

On Tuesday, April 3rd, Hays will lead a discussion over sales tax at the State of Retail and Small Businesses event. The City of Amarillo-sponsored event is meant to serve as a gathering place for community business-people to discuss information and ideas on how to compete with internet retailers in today's day and age. Hays will also discuss the state of retail industries and small businesses in Amarillo.

Also at the event, certain community business leaders will talk about retail in Amarillo in a panel led by Mayor Ginger Nelson. Breakout sessions will follow that panel.

The event will be held from 7:30am through 1pm at the Embassy Suites in downtown Amarillo (550 S. Buchanan). Admission is free and space is limited. For a free ticket, please visit the City Secretary at Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 17th Ave, 3rd Floor).
