Amarillo's Toys 'R' Us location is expected to be closed by this summer.
According to information released by Toys 'R' Us on Thursday, the company is planning to "wind" down most of its United States business as part of a bankruptcy filing. All stores owned by the company in the U.S. are planned to be shut or sold during the closures. However, an official timeline for store closures has not yet been released.
CNBC also reported this week that Toys "R" Us has considered pursuing a plan that would keep 200 United States stores open through a sale to a Canadian company, however it is unclear which U.S. stores would be saved through such an action.
At any rate, a closing of the Amarillo Toys "R" Us store is expected in the coming months. A closing date in May has been rumored, however, the company has not yet independently confirmed that date.
