Candidates Make Last Pitches on Election Day

Election day has arrived in Amarillo and the candidates are making their last pitches at the polls.

On Tuesday, candidates running for offices up and down the ballot appeared at polling stations across Amarillo to make their final pitches to voters. In Randall County, Matt Martindale, a Republican for Randall County Court at Law, campaigned with his daughter, while one of his opponents, James Abbott, campaigned with his supporters and his dog, Butters, at various locations in Randall County. Abbott also took to Facebook Live to stream the day's events to all of his supporters online.

In Potter County, candidates were also busy making the finishing touches on the campaign bids. Steven Denny, a Republican for 320th District Judge, campaigned in Potter County with his wife, Mellessa. Pamela Sirmon, another candidate for the spot, also used social media to make her last bid to voters on election day.

Meanwhile, in one of the higher profile races locally, restaurant owner Victor Leal campaigned outside of polling places as he seeks to become the State Senator for the 31st District of Texas. Mike Canon, another Republican, was seen putting out signs in the Midland area, and volunteers for incumbent Kel Seliger hit polling places around the district.

Voters will decide the races tonight. Runoffs, if necessary, will be held on May 22nd.
