A memorial service has been planned this weekend for one of Amarillo's well-known invisible neighbors.
According to information released this week, a memorial service has been planned for Wilburn Hayes Ford. Ford was best known to those in Amarillo as "Sarge."
The memorial service is being planned by Amarillo Brown Bag Runs and Food Not Bombs. Amarillo Brown Bag Runs says that Sarge was a regular at the group's functions and that volunteers chose to honor his memory by planning the service.
Those involved wrote that the memorial will be held at Ellwood Park (1100 S Jackson St) on Saturday, April 14th. The memorial will be held at 8pm.
