Crews from the Amarillo Fire Department battled a fire on North Monroe on Monday morning.
According to AFD, crews were dispatched to 1200 North Monroe at 6:45am on Monday, on the report of a structure fire. Crews arrived at 6:50am and found an abandoned two story apartment building with fire showing from the first and second floors of the structure. Crews battled the fire and entered the building to search for any occupants.
The fire was called under control at 7:22am. The Amarillo Fire Marshal has ruled the origin of the fire to be in one of the bathrooms of a first floor apartment. The cause is undetermined.
No damage estimate has been released.
