Crews from the Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wilson Street this week.
On Wednesday morning, crews were dispatched to a structure fire at 2407 South Wilson. Crews arrived five minutes after being dispatched at 4:40am and found a single story residence with a garage that was fully involved in a fire. A second alarm was called due to high winds and neighbors were evacuated from nearby homes. Crews battled the fire from the outside until they were able to make it into the main part of the house. The fire was called under control at 5:20am.
The garage was destroyed in the fire but the fire did little damage to the main part of the house, according to the Amarillo Fire Department. The fire's cause has been ruled undetermined within the area of the garage. The property was reportedly vacant prior to the fire.
Damages are estimated at $25,000.
