A man has been arrested after allegedly throwing a rock and a beer bottle at Amarillo Police officers.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, officers were dispatched on Monday night to the area of Interstate 40 and Bolton on the report of a suspect throwing rocks at vehicles. When officers arrived, they found the suspect located in the westbound grass median in the area of Interstate 40 and Bolton. The suspect, Matthew Meyers, 39, threw a rock and a beer bottle at officers. Officers attemplted to make contact with Meyers, and the suspect rrefused to comply with the officers' demands that he drop the rocks. A taser was then used to bring Meyers into custody.
Mutliple victims have reported damage to their vehicles. One victim was transported to a local hospital with injuries to her eyes from glass fragments.
Meyers has been charged with five counts of Aggravate Assault with a Deadly Weapon and was booked into the Potter County Jail.
