A man is now in custody after allegedly shooting at Amarillo Police officers last month.
According to the Amarillo Police Department, Dylan Newcomer, 24, was released from a local hospital and booked into the Randall County Jail on Friday, September 7th. Newcomer is charged with two counts of Attempted Capital Murder and a Parole Violation warrant for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Newcomer was sent to a local hospital after allegedly shooting at officers and striking one in the foot on August 31st. The officers returned fire and struck Newcomer. Both the officer and Newcomer were sent to a local hospital. The shooting allegedly occurred after officers made contact with Newcomer while responding to a burglary alarm at 3400 South Western. Officers attempted to make contact with a suspect, who then ran from officers.
This incident is still under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Special Crimes Unit.
