Texas DOT Begins Three Year Bridge Project

The Texas Department of Transportation began a bridge replacement project today that is expected to last for three years.

According to TxDOT, the $50.4 million construction project will affect a 4.26 mile stretch of the Interstate 40 corridor. The project will include removal and replacement of bridges for improvement of traffic operations, mobility and safety. The bridges are located at Whitaker Road, SL 335 (Lakeside Drive) and FM 1258 (Pullman Road).

In addition to the bridge replacements, several other improvements will take place. Among these improvement projects are:

  • Roadway improvements consisting of overlay work on the interstate’s eastbound and westbound main lanes from Nelson Street to the US 287 split.

  • Reversal of the westbound ramps between Spur 468 (Airport Drive/Juett Attebury Drive) and Whitaker Road.

  • Ramp profile modifications of the remaining ramps.

The project is expected to be completed in three years. J. Lee Milligan, Inc. is the contractor on the project.
