Pampa to Reintroduce Curfew for Minors

Pampa City Commissioners are considering voting next week to reintroduce a citywide cerfew for minors under the age of seventeen years old.

On Monday, April 23rd, Pampa City Commissioners will consider approving a second and final reading of an ordinance that would reintroduce the curfew citywide. According to minutes from the Commission's April 9th meeting, Pampa currently has an ordinance enforcing a curfew, however, that ordinance is set to expire this year. The ordinance is traditionally readopted every three years by the City Commission.

Lance Richburg, Pampa Chief of Police, said during April 9th's meeting that the ordinance that Commissioners will readopt is nearly identical to the ordinance that is currently being enforced. The only major change to the ordinance that will be considered is the removal of language dealing with gang related activity, as Richburg said in the April 9th minutes that gang activity does not reflect the current climate in Pampa.

Also, during April 23rd's meeting, Commissioners will consider approving the absence of Commissioner Karen McLain from the April 9th meeting.

Commissioners will meet on Monday, April 23rd in the Commission Chamber of Pampa City Hall (201 W. Kingsmill, Pampa). The meeting will begin at 12pm.
