WTAMU Student Chapter to Host Career Panel

West Texas A&M University’s student chapter of Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) will host a “Career Panel and Mock Interview” networking event at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the Jack B. Kelley Student Center, White Room, No. 38.

The event was organized by executive leaders of ALPFA, a student organization at the Paul and Virginia Engler College of Business, to enable students to interact intimately with potential employers in a friendly environment. The panel session is designed to encourage undergraduate and graduate students to learn about the career stories of business leaders in the local community. After the career panel, student participants will practice networking and interviewing skills in a comfortable environment.

The career panelists for the event include:

  • Joshua Raef, CEO/owner of the Chick-Fil-A at Georgia Street;

  • Ruby Moreno, CEO of the Hispanic Amarillo Chamber of Commerce;

  • Ariana Gonzalez, operations manager, Amarillo National Bank; and

  • Evelyn Ecker, executive director, Canyon Economic Development Corporation.

Both students and employers will be able to forge professional relationships and develop networking skills.

The event is free and open to all undergraduate and graduate students interested in networking with local business leaders from the community. Business attire is recommended. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.

The ALPFA student chapter is part of the national ALPFA chapter, a 45-year old organization established in 1972, which includes over 81,000 professional and student members across the country to promote networking and professional leadership opportunities to connect with corporate leaders. The student chapter focuses on developing career-development workshops and events to promote professional growth and development.
