Peace Officers Memorial Day to be Recognized at Llano Cemetery

National Peace Officers Memorial Day will be recognized next month with a ceremony at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo.

On May 15th, Llano Cemetery will host a wreath laying ceremony to honor law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The public is invited to attend this event as Llano and local law enforcement officials gather for remembrance.

The day's wreath laying ceremony coincides with National Peace Officer Memorial Day. In 1962, a resolution of the U.S. Congress established the memorial day. The calendar week of May 15th is also National Police Week.

Llano Cemetery's ceremony will begin at 5:30pm to give special recognition to law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The ceremony will be held in the Field of Honor at Llano East.
