The El Paso Democrat waging a bid to unseat incumbent U.S. Senator Ted Cruz is bringing in some serious cash, according to his campaign.
This week, O'Rourke's campaign told the Texas Tribune that the El Paso businessman and politician has raised $6.7 million in the most recent fundraising cycle, shattering the record currently held by his campaign. His campaign also claims that it received donations from 141,000 individual donors during the most recent reporting cycle and outraised every Democrat running for a senate seat nationwide.
Ted Cruz, the Republican incumbent in the race, has not yet released any cash figures for his haul this cycle. Cruz is coming off of a successful Republican primary campaign, in which he topped his closest competitors, accountant Mary Miller and television producer Bruce Jacobson, Jr.
O'Rourke is currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, representing a district which includes El Paso.
