The Amarillo Police Department has announced that Sergeant Brent Barbee will soon retire.
Barbee is a longtime officer with the Amarillo Police Department, who has served 39 years with the APD. Barbee first joined the Amarillo Police Department at age 19 and was a patrolman until 1986, when he was promoted to sergeant and was transferred to the detective division. Barbee also worked as a patrol sergeant in 1992 and was named "Officer of the Quarter" by Amarillo Rotary South.
Barbee was also one of the original team members of law enforcement, prosecution, medical and social service professionals in Amarillo participating in the multidisciplinary approach of child abuse investigation under The Bridge Advocacy Center, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
In 2008, Barbee was named Crime Prevention Unit Supervisor. In that role, he worked with the APD Crime Prevention Unit as Public Information Officer, Crime Prevention Officer, and police/community liaison.
