Letter: Kip Billups Should Not Have Been Arrested for Clapping

The following Letter to the Editor was submitted for publication by Michael Martinez

Dear editor and readers of the Amarillo Pioneer,

Kip Billups should not have been arrested for clapping during the city council meeting.

Ginger Nelson had Kip Billups escorted out of the council meeting where he was arrested after clapping during Tuesday's meeting. Kip Billups is a local guy who has a heart for public service. It is beyond me why Ginger Nelson believes that she made a good choice while Kip was being taken [out of City Hall] in cuffs.

I watched the meeting on the amarillo.gov Tuesday and I did not feel that Kip Billups was disrupting the meeting. Kip clapped with a bunch of other people and was singled out by Nelson.

This was very disappointing and was not something that should have happened. Ginger Nelson needs to do something to make this right. Kip Billups did not deserve to be arrested.
