April is Child Abuse Awareness Month in Amarillo

April is Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in Amarillo.

On Tuesday night, the Amarillo City Council officially issued a proclamation marking April as Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month in Amarillo. The proclamation was marked with statements by representatives from two organizations, Amarillo CASA and the Bridge.

"At the Bridge, we served 1,100 children last year," a spokesperson for the Bridge said at Tuesday's Amarillo City Council meeting. "We can all be a part of that solution and it all starts with a conversation."

The proclamation of April as Child Abuse Awareness Month also coincides with the national recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month 2018 by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
