Friday School Threat Debunked by APD

A threat circulating on social media Friday was debunked by the Amarillo Police Department as having no tie to Amarillo.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, Amarillo Independent School District officials and APD officers were made aware of a possible threat made to an Amarillo school on Friday. Authorities say that the department and district took the threat seriously and investigated. The results of the investigation revealed that the threat, directed at CHS, had originated out of state and was not meant for an Amarillo school. Officers contacted the city in which the threat originated and found that a student had been arrested.

Residents are reminded that if a person finds any possible threats, they should contact the Amarillo Police Department immediately to allow for an investigation to begin.
