A teenager died in a wreck that occurred on Wednesday, according to the Amarillo Police Department.
This week, officers reported that a wreck took place on Wednesday evening at the Echo-Mirror Connector. A 1985 Chevy pickup was driven by Fernando Garcia, 18, at a high rate of speed. Garcia lost control of the struck and left the runway, rolling the vehicle. Garcia died at the scene as a result of his injuries.
Justice of the Peace Richard Herman has ordered an autopsy. Speed and no seat belt are believed to be factors in the wreck. Authorities also say that it was possible that he was on the phone at the time of the wreck.
