A federal court has blocked an order for Texas to implement online voter registration for drivers renewing licenses.
According to the Texas Tribune, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Thursday to block a lower court ruling, which ordered Texas to implement an online system to register to vote, when drivers renew licenses online. The order to create the system was originally part of a ruling by U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia.
It is unclear whether an online voter registration system, or some form of the system, will be operational before the November general election.
