Midland County taxpayers sustained a loss of about $32,000 last month, due to subsidies related to a Doobie Brothers concert.
According to the Texas Scorecard's Lauren Melear, County Commissioners in Midland were told this week that the County sustained a $32,000 loss on the Doobie Brothers concert at the Horseshoe arena. County Commissioners voted earlier this year to spend $50,000 on the show, while only $18,000 was generated back in sales tax revenue. That $18,000 will be placed back into the County's promotions account.
This is the second major loss out of the account in the past several years, according to Melear. Taxpayers in Midland also sustained an $80,000 loss on a Jeff Foxworthy concert in 2015.
