Lubbock Republicans Pick Parrish for County Judge

Curtis Parrish has won the Republican primary runoff for Lubbock County Judge.

On Tuesday night, Lubbock Republicans chose Curtis Parrish as the next judge for Lubbock County, defeating Gary Boren. Parrish, an attorney, radio host and Texas Tech stadium announcer, won the primary with 54 percent of the vote. Boren, a businessman, won 46 percent of the vote.

Neither Parrish or Boren won 50 percent of the vote in the March Republican primary, forcing a runoff. Karen S. Gibson, the third candidate in the race, did not qualify for the May runoff.

Parrish is expected to run unopposed in November and will replace the retiring Judge Tom Head.
