City Council Changes Meeting Time, Plans $250k Expenditure on Trash Carts

The Amarillo City Council is planning to give the final OK to the City of Amarillo's proposed trash cart program on Tuesday.

According to an agenda posted to Amarillo.gov, Councilmembers will vote on whether to approve the final reading of the trash cart program in Amarillo. If approved, residents in certain areas of Amarillo will have their dumpsters removed and replaced with plastic trash carts. The first roll out of the program will affect neighborhoods with curbside pickup, those without alleyways and those with dumpsters on curbs. Councilmembers will also consider spending $252,172 on the carts for the program.

Additionally, residents should note that the meeting time for the City Council has changed for the upcoming week. The Council is now planning to meet at 3pm, according to the agenda. There is no explanation as to why the time is being changed.

The City Council will meet at 3pm on Tuesday, June 19th in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue).
