A local activist has resigned from the board of the Christ Church Camp of New Beginnings.
On Friday, Kip Billups announced that he has tendered his resignation as vice president of the Christ Church Camp of New Beginnings. Billups made the announcement, stating that he believes that his resignation is in the best interest of those on the board of the camp.
"Christ Church Camp of New Beginnings is still willing and wanting to negotiate with city leaders in order to secure a place for our Invisible Neighbors," Billups said in a statement. "My focus is to have those city leaders replaced with people that are willing to negotiate for the good of our friends."
Although he announced his resignation, the local activist says that he will continue to support the board and Christ Church Camp of New Beginnings "100 percent."
Billups' resignation comes as he recently announced his intention to start a voter registration drive in Amarillo. Billups says that he has just completed training to become a deputy voter registrar in Potter and Randall Counties and plans to continue his quest to register new voters in Amarillo. Rumors are also circulating that Billups is planning to run for city council during the next election, although he has not officially confirmed this to be true.
