Amarilloans Protest Outside of Atomic Sports Bar

A group of local residents staged a protest in front of the Atomic Sports Bar & Brill on Sunday night.

Late Sunday evening, a group of around a dozen protesters gathered in front of the restaurant at 2523 Britain, advocating for fair treatment of the restaurant's employees. Donovan Bond and his wife, a former employee of the restaurant, say that they helped organize the event to bring awareness to what they view as issues at the Atomic Sports Bar & Grill. Several protesters who claimed to be former employees of the restaurant alleged that they have not received paychecks in a timely manner or that they were displeased with the restaurant owner's treatment of the employees. Additionally, one protester said that they are considering bringing legal action against the owner of the restaurant.

Cameron Chadwick, another protester who livestreamed the protest on Facebook, said that he was at the restaurant, in hopes of seeing paychecks for employees who are allegedly owed back wages.

"We're just out here trying to get people their paychecks," Chadwick can be heard stating on the video.

The protest generated much interest and around 6,000 people watched Chadwick's livestream on Sunday night. The protest also attracted local news crews and spectators.

Organizers also say that another protest is planned for Monday night, June 4th at the restaurant. That protest will begin at 6pm and protesters are asked to organize in a respectful manner.
