Sales tax revenues in Amarillo are up around 2.5 percent for this fiscal year, according to the City officials.
On Thursday, the City of Amarillo announced that sales tax revenues are up about 2.58 percent for the current fiscal year over the previous fiscal year. This is partially credited to a reported sales tax revenue increase of about 6 percent during the month of July, officials say.
Officials say current revenues for sales taxes have accounted for about 85 percent of the numbers budgeted for 2017-2018. Numbers for August and September will account for the final months of collection during the fiscal year, and officials are hopeful that these numbers will account for at least 100 percent of the budgeted total of about $55 million.
