Center City TIRZ Looking to Extend Its Lifespan

One local board will discuss increasing its lifespan during a meeting nex week.

On Thursday, August 9th, the Center City Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board of Directors will discuss and take "possible direction" on extending the term of its lifespan. The Center City TIRZ Zone, which is meant to take certain funding from taxes within the zone to reinvest into private projects and infrastructure, was first created about a decade ago with a twenty year lifespan. Extending the term of the zone's existence has been long discussed, as another TIRZ board was also created in Amarillo in late 2016 and early 2017.

Also, during the meeting, the board will discuss the possible implementation of parking meters in downtown Amarillo.

The Center City TIRZ Board of Directors will meet on Thursday, August 9th in Room 306 of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue). The meeting will begin at 12pm.
