Public comments and public forums will be held separate from the rest of the Amarillo City Council's upcoming meeting.
According to the City of Amarillo's agendas, the Amarillo City Council has posted the noon public comment portion of Tuesday's meeting as a separate component from the rest of the meeting. However, the public comment meeting is supposed to begin at noon and run until 1pm, with the Council's regular meeting running until 1pm.
7am public hearings will also be held on Tuesday, although these public forums will regard the City of Amarillo's proposed effective 1.8 percent tax increase for the upcoming fiscal year. Residents speaking during the 7am meeting may only speak on the tax issue and may not speak on general policies and services at the City.
While other elected bodies in the area do schedule tax hearings separate in some cases, nearly all other entities, including the Amarillo College Board of Regents, Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees and various county commissions host public comment at the same time as the regular meeting.
Public comment will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 4th in the Council Chambers of Amarillo City Hall (509 Southeast 7th Avenue).
