Candidates from all over the state will be coming to Amarillo this fall for the Amarillo Pioneer's candidate forum.
On Thursday, October 4th, the Amarillo Pioneer newspaper will host a candidate forum at the American Legion Hanson Post 54 (615 Southwest 7th Avenue). The forum will feature candidates running for local and statewide offices. All candidates, including Republican, Democratic and Libertarian nominees, have been invited to participate.
"Voting is an important duty that has been bestowed upon the American people," Amarillo Pioneer editor Thomas Warren said. "We want to make sure people are informed and engaged when they head to the polls on election day."
Thus far, every Democrat running for local office in Amarillo has agreed to participate in the forum. Additionally, Judge Steven Kirkland, the Democratic nominee for Texas Supreme Court Place 2, has agreed to attend. Other candidates from across the state have also expressed interest and are currently working out details for the forum.
Moderators have yet to be announced.
