Democrat Beto O'Rourke is now leading Republican incumbent Ted Cruz for the first time in the campaign, according to a new poll.
On Wednesday, a brand new Reuters poll has O'Rourke over Cruz, 47 percent to 45 percent. The poll did not include Libertarian Neal Dikeman, but 3 percent of respondents did choose to support the "Other" option.
Respondents also gave Republican Greg Abbott the edge in the race for Governor. Abbott led Democrat Lupe Valdez, 50 percent to 41 percent. 2 percent of respondents chose the "Other" option in that race as the third candidate on the ballot, Libertarian Mark Tippetts, was not included in the poll.
The new poll followed a poll released on Monday, showing Cruz with a nine point lead over O'Rourke. This is the first poll to show O'Rourke leading the one time presidential candidate.
