WTAMU ALPFA to Host Palomares

“The West Texas A&M University student chapter of the Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) is hosting a Distinguished Lecture Series presentation as part of Hispanic Heritage Month featuring Miguel Palomares, CEO of Palomares Communication, PricewaterhouseCoopers senior associate, career coach and author at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, at the Alumni Banquet Facility on the WTAMU campus.

Palomares will present “How to Snag a High-Paying Career at Some of the Most Distinguished Companies in the World.” He will give tips and tricks on obtaining a high-paying career at some of the most distinguished companies in the world. His presentation is free and open to the public.

“The purpose is to inspire the audience to expand their current career vision to the next level up,” Dr. Leslie Ramos Salazar, WTAMU assistant professor business communication and decision management, said. “And to use knowledge, networking and skills to get a high-paying, quality career.”

Palomares is an outstanding motivational speaker, author and a career coach who migrated from Mexico. He also has a wide range of experience in the insurance industry and is currently a management consultant with PricewaterhouseCoopers. He enjoys running, mentoring and spending time with his family. Over the last 10 years he has been a volunteer interviewer and is the central California interview area chair for Brown Undergraduate admission. Along with his wife, Jacqueline Palomares, they founded the Leland Palomares Scholarship to help young students attend college and universities. As a first-generation student, he earned a B.S. from Brown University, a Summer Management Program Certificate at Stanford University, and an M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.

He has authored two books—Dream to Achieve: A Practical Guide to Pursue Your Goals, Dreams and Aspirations and Investing in all Aspects of your Life (in press). His books train first generation and Hispanic students to accomplish career goals to achieve career success, while dealing with substantial personal, economic and social-cultural obstacles. Palomares has delivered notable talks for the Ivy League Project, Proven Achievement. Lifelong Advantage., Hispanic Scholarship Fund, Doctors Academy, Hispanic Central California Chamber of Commerce and ALPFA Symposium and student chapters.

WTAMU’s Distinguished Lecture Series was created in 2007 to enhance education in the classroom. A portion of the student activity fee funds the series, and committee members strive to select speakers who appeal to a broad spectrum of the student body. The mission of the DLS is to invite person of national prominence to the WTAMU campus in order to expose students to important issues of our time.”
