Betancourt Seeking Re-Election to AISD Board

John Betancourt wants your support for another four years on the Amarillo Independent School District Board of Trustees.

On Tuesday, Betancourt announced he had filed to run for re-election to the AISD Board of Trustees in 2019. Betancourt will be seeking one of three seats which include full four year terms on the board. One seat up for election this year will include the remaining two years of an unexpired four year term.

Betancourt was first elected to the Board of Trustees in 2015, claiming an open seat on the board that year. Betancourt was elected alongside F. Scott Flow and Jim Austin, outpacing fellow challenger Vianey Valdez Earthman.

Alongside Betancourt, AISD officials say political newcomer Kimberly Anderson has filed to run for a seat on the AISD Board. Filing for the election will continue through February 15th, with all eligible interested candidates encouraged to file.

The election will be held in May 2019.
